Europe

Europe, also known as Europa, derives its name from Greek mythology. It is the sixth largest continent, the third most populous after Asia and Africa, with an average population density of 70 per square kilometer, and has 50 independent sovereign states. Europe's eastern boundary is the Ural Mountains and Ural River, the southeastern boundary is the Caspian Sea, Caucasus Mountains, and Black Sea, while the west and northwest face the Atlantic Ocean, Greenland Sea, and Denmark Strait across from North America. To the north is the Arctic Ocean, and to the south lies the Mediterranean Sea, separating it from Africa. The northernmost point is North Cape in Norway, and the southernmost point is Point de Tarifa in Spain. Europe is the second smallest continent, slightly larger than Oceania. It forms the Eurasian continent with Asia, and the Euro-African continent with Asia and Africa. The boundaries of Europe vary depending on political, economic, cultural, or practical considerations, leading to different conceptual interpretations of 'Europe'.
